Wednesday was another workday in the yard... I miss living in an apartment. This time there was only two missions. 1) Find the break in the sprinkler electrical line 2) bring power to the fence. Seems simple enough but another multiple hour project leaving my hands looking like I was punching a wall all night.
Project 1: Find the break in the sprinkler electrical line
After spending all Saturday planting it was clear on Monday night that I somehow cut the line that controls one of our zones for watering. This meant reversing a lot of work that had already been done on Saturday. Pull back the mulch and week barrier, dig out electrical line and hope I find the the cut in the line (and it can be mended). Well after an hour of digging it was clear I had no idea why the sprinklers were not running. Zach and I headed to the Depot to just by a second line.... Again we had to dig out a small trench, bury the cable and repair the weed block and cover with mulch. The sprinklers are working which is a big relief as we leave for Mexico in just over a week.
Project 2: bring power to the fence
April had mentioned how nice it would be to have lighting in the rose garden... There were several options for providing this wish; buy solar powered lamps (too expensive and not enough light), hang small white Christmas lights or mount a flood light at the corner of the house. I choose B as it seemed the easiest and less expensive option. Now how do you bring power to the far corner of your lot?? We were going to ask some electricians about the proper way but that seemed too complicated so Zach and I burrowed back under the side walk and just pulled an extension cord through the dirt. This sounds like it should be in some type of conduit? Oh well, if you don't tell the city I think we will be fine.

Welcome to the Reimers Family Blog
Hello Reader,
I am amazed at the huge number of people who actually come in (and return) to this site. There are hits from all over the United States and even some people viewing from outside the country.
It is a difficult job to update with any regularity so please send me a note or comment under each post and let me know you are reading!

Doesn’t all this work feel so gratifying? I can’t wait to see it on Sunday. Do you want to ride on Saturday morning? stuckonthe10.blogspot.com
An electrical cord under the walkway...nice. I can't wait to see it all on Sunday. -Tanya
Did you use sandpaper on that cord?
