I landed in Chicago around 6PM local time and realized that I had packed brown dress shoes instead of my black shoes. So at 7PM from my hotel (Double Tree on the Magnificent Mile) I headed out during a thunderstorm to find some shoes. All I could think of was how expensive this city is and that I am really going to be hurting without a DSW. First stop was Nordstrom's.... Outrageous that someone can drop $300 on a pair of shoes and guys. It could explain why I was the only one shopping there. Next stop was the Gap, just to be turned away... I headed north to a Banana Republic which was another 4 blocks in the rain. They had great shoes on sale at only $30.... They had 3 different brands that claimed to have my size. Each time however when the sales associate would call downstairs they could not find the shoe. Even the damn floor model they could not find the mate. With a desperation shot at finding a decent priced shoe I headed to Macy's in what now was just a drizzle.... I finally settled on a pair of loafers that only cost $40 but now I have 3 black dress shoes.
On the way back to the Hotel I stopped in the American Girl Store and picked up Madison's Doll a new shirt but was thoroughly unimpressed with the store although I was only there for 3 minutes.
I headed back to the hotel and peaked my head into the pub and grill to see if anyone was around that I could eat with... I really hate eating alone but struck out. I decided to head to Navy Pier to see what was happening at the tourist trap. It was a nice walk and I stuck around until 9:30 for the fireworks. I was able to grab these two great shots of the city at night. On the way back after the fireworks the skies just opened up and I was thoroughly drenched by the time I reached the hotel....
The meeting was very productive and I am amped to put our training into practice on Monday... Things were pretty mellow (as mellow as a group of sales reps can be) when we went out to Dinner on Thursday Night followed by Bowling and a quick stop for 4th meal at a local pub.
Our meeting wrapped up early on Friday, 2PM and I headed to Midway via the train and grabbed the above picture from my phone. I arrived at Midway around 3PM for my 8PM flight. I was told that there were openings for the 4:15 flight but I would have to pay $140 to upgrade my ticket. I called my manager and she told me NO. Now I am stuck in this damn airport for 5 hours and can't even check my bag for another hour. There is no food, no book stores, nothing but me, a power cord and this laptop.
